Cleopatra 50 for Breton skipper

Brittany skipper Jean-Philippe Vaillant has taken delivery of the latest Cleopatra 50 to be built at the Trefjar yard in Iceland, and the boat has been delivered to its home port of Le Conquet in the far west of Brittany.

The new Kalon √ćslands is fully shelterdecked and fitted out for netting and crabbing with a GMH hauler and a Net-Op net stacker, and a Marine Hydraulic slave hauler, all powered by a Danfoss hydraulic system.

The deck is equipped with handling facilities for nets and pots, with sorting tables and other equipment fitted by Trefjar.

The midships fishroom has capacity for 41 x 460 litre tubs.

The boat is built with exceptionally high-quality facilities for a crew of five with a heated oilskin store, accommodation with bunks, toilet, shower below and the galley below, and a mess area on the port side of the wheelhouse, opposite the starboard side control position with its array of mainly Furuno electronics.

The accommodation and facilities are designed so that longer trips than the usual one day can be worked if required.

Kalon √ćslands has a Caterpillar C18 main engine driving a ZF 665 V-drive. The side thruster is linked to the autopilot to help maintain heading when hauling at low speeds.
