Russian Cod, a joint venture by the Russian Fishery Company (RFC) and the Agama Group, has signed an agreement with the Federal Agency for Fisheries which secures resources alongside the company’s investment in its new processing facility in Murmansk.

The agreement was signed by RFC’s CEO Fedor Kirsanov and Petr Savchuk, deputy head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries.

Under the agreement, Russian Cod will build the factory in Murmansk to have a processing capacity of more than 50 tonnes per day, which is expected to be in operation at the end of 2019.

‘The launch of enterprises built within the investment quota initiative will make it possible to provide the market with a range of high-quality products. Fish is an important food required for health and longevity. Therefore, the contribution of investors to the creation of a modern fish industry and increased consumption of fish is very important,’Petr Savchuk said.

The factory will be equipped with modern processing systems to produce high-quality cod and haddock fillets and minced fish.

The total investment going into the project is planned at up to $12 million (€10.60 million).

Starting from 2020 RFC will receive an additional quotas for 1800 tonnes of cod and 500 tonnes of haddock, once the Russian Cod factory is commissioned.

‘The construction of the factory is an important step for our company and for consumers,’ said Fedor Kirsanov.

‘Together with partners, we provide a complete production chain from harvesting to a high-quality finished product. The new processing facilities provide increased efficiency for RFC’s business and new jobs in the region.’
