Marport has established a branch at Breivika in Ålesund to serve the Norwegian market which will carry the full range of Marport’s catch control and net monitoring sensors, echo sounders, current profilers and sonar for the world’s fishing fleet.

General manager Gunnar Grímsson who joined the company in February 2017 will head Marport Norway AS. He has more than fifteen years of experience in the fisheries sector, including his most recent position as sales manager at Furuno Norway AS, Alesund since 2010.

‘As the fisheries industry globalizes, this has become an increasingly important market for Marport products,’ said Gunnar Grímsson.

‘Our new location in Breivika offers excellent shipping logistics by land, sea, or air and the ability to easily visit customers in Alesund and surrounding areas. I am excited about Marport’s future in this key region of the world.’

With over 300 square metres of available space, the new facility houses a full inventory of Marport products ensuring a generous product offering and availability along with convenient, same day shipping. Marport Norway AS will accommodate the expansion of the Marport product line and provide ample room for in-house training and product demonstrations.

In addition to the opening of Marport Norway AS, the Marport US office, located in Mukilteo, Washington, has been officially renamed to Marport Americas.
