Gérard Romiti re-elected CNPMEM President

Gérard Romiti has been successful in his bid for a second term as president of French fishermen’s and fish farmers’ association Comité National des Pêches Maritimes et des Élevages Marins (CNPMEM).

The long CNPMEM election process began on the 12th of January and came to an end this week with the re-election of serving president Gérard Romiti as head of the National Committee for Marine Fisheries and Marine Farming.

39 members of the council cast their votes with an overwhelming majority of 29 votes in favour of the present incumbent. One vote was void and challenger Olivier le Nezet received nine votes.

Gérard Romiti’s background is as a fishermen in Corsica and he has also been president of the Corsica regional committee for many years.

The council also elected its five vice-presidents. In order of precedence these are Olivier Leprêtre (CRPMEM Hauts de France), Olivier Marie-Reine (CRPMEM Martinique), Patrick Lafargue (CRPMEM New-Aquitaine), Antoine Dhellemmes (ANOP) and Bruno Margollé (FEDOPA).

In addition to the President and the five Vice-Presidents, twelve other CNPMEM appointments were made.
