Two more for Nauta orderbook

The Nauta Shiprepair Yard in Poland has signed two contracts for building partly outfitted fishing trawlers. Both vessels have been ordered by Danish client, Karstensens Skibsvaerft, and Nauta now has twelve vessels at various states of construction that are being built for Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and UK fishing companies.

The latest additions are the 49.95m LOA, 13.20m beam pair of B-488 pelagic trawlers that Swedish company Torönland Fiskeri has ordered from Karstensen. The two new vessels will target Baltic sprat and North Sea sandeel for fishmeal production, with catches landed to FF I Skagen, as well as North Sea herring and mackerel for processing for human consumption by Skagerak Pelagic, also in Skagen.

The pair will have 2999kW main engines plus a pair of 600kW auxiliaries each, and twin 600kW cooling systems.

The Ahlstr√∂n family, owners of the distinctive orange-hulled Tor-√Ėn and Torland, recently sold their two trawlers built in 2000 to a Russian company based in Sakhalin for fishing around the Kuril islands.

Nauta Shiprepair Yard has co-operated with Karstensens Skibsvaerft since the opening Newbuilding Division in Gdańsk in September 2013. So far, the Skagen yard has ordered 19 vessels and 13 of them have already been launched.
