New longliner/netter Ragnhild Kristine

Aukra fishing company Orten Fiskeriselskap is planning to take delivery of a new longliner/netter, designed by M√•l√ły naval architect Seacon and ordered from the Vard shipyard, close to the fishing company‚Äôs base near Molde on the Norwegian west coast.

The new vessel will measure 15 metres overall, with an 8 metre beam, and will replace the present GRP Ragnhild Kristine that Orten Fiskeriselskap started fishing with in 2013. The company was set up by brothers Torstein, √ėystein and Andreas Orten and is today run by Torstein and √ėystein.

The new Ragnhild Kristine will have accommodation for a crew of up to eight, double the manpower capacity of their present boat when it is delivered in the third quarter of 2018.

‚ÄėWe know Vard Aukra, which is right across the fjord for us. We have seen which vessels are delivered from the yard, and for us the choice was easy. Building locally gives us a sense of quality and delivery time, and having the yard so close makes it easy for us to keep track of the construction process,‚Äô said Torstein Orten, general manager of the Orten Fiskeriselskab.

The Ragnhild Kristine to be replaced was purchased by Orten Fiskeriselskap AS in 2013, a 14.95 metre, 5.33 metre long GRP boat built by Arctic Boat R√łdskj√¶r in 1999. The new vessel will be handed over by Vard Aukra in the third quarter of next year.
