Toothfish longliner pair from Tersan

A pair of longliners for Norwegian operator Ervik Havfiske for fishing toothfish are taking shape at the Tersan yard in Turkey.

The 54 metre Argos Georgia, intended for fishing for toothfish in the Southern Ocean, was formally launched at the yard by Ervik Havfiske’s Hildegunn Tunheim Aarsheim.

Argos Georgia and sister vessel Nordic Prince are due for delivery in the first quarter of next year.

‚ÄėThese two longliners, Nordic Prince and Argos Georgia, are an emotional project for us as the Fr√łyanes was the first vessel we delivered to Ervik Havfiske back in 2011 and this was a pioneering newbuild project that took us into the fishing vessel market,‚Äô said Tersan Shipyard‚Äôs managing director Mehmet Gazioglu.

The two longliners are designed by Norwegian company Marin Teknikk, who has also designed the two new vessels, and he commented that this project has brought a winning team back together.

‚ÄėAt Tersan Shipyard we thank Ervik Havfiske, in particular to Stig Ervik, Kjell-Magne Ervik and Geir Rune Aarsheim, Marin Teknikk, DNV GL and our financial backer Ziraatbank for their strong support in these projects‚Äô he said. ‚ÄėLast but not the least we thank all of our staff who have put a great deal of effort into these vessels. When these two vessels sail at the beginning of next year we will all follow them with pride.‚Äô
